Macintosh: Getting to Grips with Mac OS X
Beginners


Description

This course offers a basic introduction to Mac OS X, the latest version of the Mac operating system. It also gives an overview of some of the more advanced functions offered by the operating system, and the core applications, which both an office or PWF user would find useful to use e.g. Microsoft Word.

Prerequisites

The course will assume basic computing skills; however absolute beginners are welcome providing they come 15 minutes early (see note below).

Topics covered
  • Outline of the Aqua interface
  • Description of the Dock and menus
  • Personalising of your Mac
  • Files and folders - navigation and searching
  • How to create a Word document
  • Send and receive an e-mail with an attachment

Presentations, demonstrations and practicals.

Macintosh v. 10.5 on PWF Macintosh

Notes
  • Total beginners i.e. those with no previous experience of using a mouse are requested to inform the Course Administrator and arrive at 14:00 i.e. 15 minutes earlier than the advertised start-time to catch up on basic skills.
