Project 2007: Scheduling a New Project

Description

This course is not about Project Management, it is learning how to use Microsoft Project 2007 software. A case study is used to introduce many of the more intricate and important aspects associated with using Project 2007, such as task management, resource management, costing, deadlines and milestones. The skills and knowledge that you gain while working through this course will be applicable to virtually any type of project you wish to undertake.

Prerequisites

No previous knowledge of the software is expected but it is essential to be familiar with using a computer and file management techniques. An understanding of project management is assumed; the course will be fast paced.

  • Start Microsoft Project and work with it's key screen features
  • Create a new project file
  • Understand key project management concepts
  • Enter and work with tasks in a project
  • Enter and work with durations for tasks
  • Enter and work with task relationships
  • Create and work with resource pools
  • Understand resource assignment concepts
  • Assign resources to tasks
  • Level overallocated resources in a project
  • Assign materials to tasks
  • Enter a wide range of costs into a project
  • Set constraints and deadlines in a project
  • Monitor and track a project
  • Print information from a project.
Format

Presentations, demonstrations and practicals to lead you through the case study, however, the material can be used as self-teach if you prefer that format.
